What is the Citation Changes tab?

The Citation Changes tab shows you how your top citations are trending over time. Instead of a single snapshot, it compares your current period against the previous period so you can see which URLs are gaining ground, holding steady, or slipping in AI-generated answers.

How it works

Citation Changes compares two datasets: the current period versus the previous period (it's an equal-length window immediately preceding your selected date range). It then surfaces the trends for each cited URL, so you can quickly tell what's changed rather than just what's cited.

To find it, open any brand report and scroll down to the Citation Changes section.

The tabs explained

Citation Changes is split into six tabs, each answering a different question about your citation trends:

Tab What it shows
Top Your most-cited URLs — the citations you'll most want to monitor
New URLs cited in the current period that weren't present before
Increased URLs that were cited before but are now cited significantly more often
Stable Highly cited URLs whose citation counts haven't meaningfully changed
Decreased URLs that are still cited but have become notably less frequent
Lost URLs that were cited before but have disappeared in the current period

New and Lost are mirror images of each other (appeared vs. disappeared), as are Increased and Decreased (more vs. less frequent).

Sorting your results

You can sort by relevance, change or cited.

Filtering and expanding the view

  • Filter by URL — use the filter on the Url column to narrow the list to a specific page.
  • Expand the view — click the expand icon in the top-right to open a larger version where you can browse and sort all results.

Viewing details for a single citation

Click any URL in the list to open a detail view. This is the same detailed citation view available in the citations experience, so you can drill into an individual URL's performance without leaving the tab.
